Reconstruction of a Walk

2016

This was an Art Foundation assignment with my instructor, Jon Rajkovich, which in which I was instructed to take a walk in an area of my city, gather objects, and come back with them, and make a sculpture containing these objects and rebar wire.

The objects, mostly stones and leaves, were gathered in a walk down Laurel Street of Richmond, to, and around Hollywood Cemetery. The full collection of objects, and an earlier iteration of this sculpture is included here.

I used a drill to twist the rebar wire into a stronger form, and my hands to create the braided circles that comprise the three floors of the sculpture.
